When Was Your Last Skin Cancer Check?
ANSWERS
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I worry?
Do you have a new skin lesion?
Any lesion that changes in size, shape or colour warrants review by a skin cancer doctor.
Early melanoma may look like a mole or freckle. Close inspection with a dermatoscope is the only reliable way to assess the lesion fully.
Basal cell cancers ( BCC’s) and Squamous cell cancers (SCC’s) can look like a flesh coloured sore, scar or scab that won’t heal. Squamous cell cancers can grow rapidly over weeks and are often tender, Basal cell cancers tend to grow more slowly but also require removal.
These types of skin cancers are very common in Australia with over 66% of Australians developing a skin cancer over the course of their lifetime.
We also have experience in very rare skin tumours such as AFX and Merkel Cell carcinoma.
If you have a lesion of concern, we can offer you an urgent appointment for a SPOT CHECK
How often should I have a Skin Check?
The frequency of skin checks varies from person to person and depends on many variables.
A personalised plan will be given to you after your initial check check.
However, if you are concerned about a new or changing lesion, please call without delay to book a spot check.
